How emails are signed-off in different countries

Emails with wrong endings can be very funny and sometimes endings can sound rude.

Here are some interesting insights on how different people sign off their emails and how it is received by the receiver:

Americans often end an email with ‘Regards’, but to Britishers this is rude! Britishers prefer the warmer greetings ‘Best regards’ or ‘Kind regards’.

Many French type ‘Mille baisers’ meaning ‘a thousand kisses’! English speakers find this is too loving to get from a non-family member!

Arabians often use ‘Taqabalou waafir al-iHtiraam wa al-taqdeer’ meaning ‘please accept a lot of respect and appreciation’. They find ‘Regards’, ’Kind Regards’ or ‘Best regards’ very unfriendly.

In Brazil, ‘Un abrazo’ is common. It means ‘a hug’. But this is very odd  for English speakers in business emails!

Emails are generally formal method of communication or writing. Some of you would soon be writing emails. We should learn the customs of the people we are writing to and write accordingly.
