New Zealand is hosting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2022. The matches are scheduled for the months of March and April. This year marks the event’s twelfth running.

In the match between India and Australia, Australia defeated India by 6 wickets. Australia advanced to the semi-finals with a five-game unbeaten run behind Meg Lanning’s 96-run performance at the batting. Beth Monney’s two fours in three balls in the last over gave Australia a six-wicket victory over India in the Women’s World Twenty20.

Key highlights – ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 – India vs Australia

  • It was Harmanpreet Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar’s hard-hitting that drove India’s total to 277/7 against Australia. Vastrakar scored 34 runs off 28 balls before being sent out by Kaur with a score of 57.
  • On 28/2, India had Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma out. A resurgence by India in the middle overs, led by half-centuries from Yastika Bhatia (59) and Mithali Raj (68), set up a favourable situation for batsmen to capitalise on in the closing stages.
  • With Lanning’s 97 runs, Australia scored the highest successful run chase in a Women’s World Cup history, chasing down a target of 278.
  • Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes shared a 121-run partnership in less than 20 overs to put Australia in a commanding position in the chase.
  • A 103-run third-wicket partnership between Lanning and Ellyse Perry put an end to any hope that the Indians might have had from the wickets.
  • Lanning’s wicket snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for India in the final over, and Australia needed eight from the final over to win. Despite this, Mooney was able to swat away the runs in just three balls of the over.
