IPL 2022 Update, 8-May!

With a six-wicket victory over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on 7 May at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Rajasthan Royals returned to winning ways in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 for the first time in the franchise’s history.

At the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 75 runs on 7 May, putting them atop the points table in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Lucknow Super Giants hold the top position on the points table. Gujrat Titans and Rajasthan Royals (RR) hold the second and third positions respectively in the ongoing IPL 2022.

Punjab Kings vs Rajasthan Royals!

Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan hit half-centuries for Punjab Kings. Rajapaksa was dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal in the final over of his innings. Punjab Kings led 88-1 at the midway point of their innings. Liam Livingstone hit his first century for the team. Jitesh Sharma helped Punjab Kings to a first-innings total of 189-5. Yuzvendra Chahal took three wickets as Rajasthan Royals chased 190 runs to win the match.

Jos Buttler hit a massive six followed by three fours, but was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada on the penultimate ball of the innings and was caught at short third man in the process. Yashasvi Jaiswal hit two fours and a six against Sandeep Sharma as they chased the target. Devdutt Padikkal and Shreyas Hetmyer hit full-tosses to push Rajasthan Royals closer to the required 39 off final over. Arshdeep Singh conceded only three runs in the penultimate over to secure victory. 

Lucknow Super Giants vs Kolkata Knight Riders!

Avesh Khan came in to replace K Gowtham in the eleven. The strain of losing an early wicket didn’t seem to bother Lucknow Super Giants, as Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda put up a swift fifty-run stand to secure victory. Lucknow Super Giants’ first innings finished with a total of 176-7 runs.

Lucknow Super Giants beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 75 runs in the first game of the season. Avesh Khan took three wickets in an over to help Lucknow Super Giants claw their way back into the game. Quinton de Kock and Andre Russell hit half-centuries for the visitors.
