The GSAT 30

  • This satellite aims to provide high-quality television, telecommunication and broadcasting services to the Indian mainland and its surrounding islands.
  • It weighs 3357 kg, and will serve as a replacement to INSAT 4A spacecraft services, but with more enhanced coverage from Europe in the West to Australia in the South-East.
  • This satellite will provide valuable communication services to the country for the next 15 years and more.
  • In the past 3 decades, ISRO has launched and maintained a constellation of communication satellites essentially for domestic use.

Communication services

  • Communication is an integral part of our day to day life.
  • Services like television, banking, broadband connectivity and telephoning are enabled through communication satellites stationed in the geostationary orbit in space.

With GSAT 30, ISRO has achieved another successful milestone aimed at strengthening India’s communication infrastructure and providing continuity of services well into the 2030s.
