- Residents claim that the power project Tapovan-Vishnugad is to blame.
- The project is being executed by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
- Now, the people who live there want the government to do more to help them move.
- Authorities from the state have looked at the “sinking” situation from the ground up.
- It was found that about 350 metres of land were affected.
- The district government is helping impacted families depart for safer regions.
- While at the same time making sure they have food, shelter, and safety.
- Residents say they’ve been telling authorities about the cracks in their homes for more than a year.
- Local news reports say that you can now see the cracks in Joshimath in public places.
- Some residents also state that authorities also need to take responsibility for the construction of the Helang-Marwari bypass by the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
- The town’s administrative officials estimate that there are currently more than 20,000 people.
- The administration aspires to help as many people as possible.
