She was born on 28th September 1929 and is 90 years old today.
 	Ms Mangeshkar is the oldest of 4 siblings and started singing when her father passed away at an early age.
 	Her father was a Marathi musician and a theatre personality. You may have also read about her sister Asha Bhonsle.
 	Ms Mangeshkar has been singing since the age of 13 and is still active today.
 	She has sung thousands of songs in over 36 regional Indian languages and foreign languages as well.
 	Lata Mangeshkar was the first Indian to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in England in 1978.
 	Her latest song is 'Saugandh mujh iss mitti ki' that she sang in March 2019.

Lata Mangeshkar has received many awards and recognitions during her lifetime.

The Government of India bestowed on her the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989.
 	She is also a recipient of many more awards - the Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan and more.
 	She's only the second vocalist after M.S. Subbulakshmi to receive the Bharat Ratna.
 	France also conferred on her its highest civilian award - Officer of the Legion of Honour in 2007.

Lata Mangeshkar has lent her beautiful voice to songs from all genres like 'Aye mere watan ke logon', 'Dil to pagal hai', 'Zindagi pyaar ka geet hai' etc. It is a delight to listen to her songs!
