Mithali Raj becomes first Indian batswoman to score 10,000 international runs

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

Today, Mithali Raj became the first Indian woman cricket player to score 10,000 runs in international cricket, across all formats.

Mithali reached the amazing total in the ongoing third One-day International (ODI) against South Africa in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She scored 36 runs before being dismissed by Anne Bosch.

Mithali is now only the second woman cricketer to score 10,000 runs across all formats. England’s Charlotte Edwards was the first one to achieve the feat.

The 38-year-old right-handed batter is the current captain of the Indian women’s ODI and Test teams.

She has scored 6974 runs in ODIs and 2,364 in the T20Is. She has also scored 663 runs from 10 Test matches.

Since her international debut in June 1999, Mithali has played 212 ODIs, scoring seven centuries and 54 half-centuries. She retired from playing T20I matches in September 2019.

Congratulations to her for this amazing achievement! We hope she will keep breaking many more records.
