National e-Governance Awards 2019

Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, presented the National e-Governance Awards 2019 on 27th February. The awards were presented this year at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. A total of 14 awards under 6 categories were presented.

e-Governance is explained as the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at all the levels of the Government for delivering services to citizens in an efficient, effective and transparent manner.

National e-Governance Awards recognise the best government department initiatives.
 	These annual awards are given to initiatives focusing on Citizen-Centric Services and the application of technology for development.
 	It also recognises contributions by Start ups and Academic Research Institutions in the above areas or in emerging technologies.
 	The event also included an exhibition showcasing best practices, innovative technologies and ICT solutions.

Of the 14 awards, IRCTC’s Rail Connect mobile app received a special mention . This app won the special jury award for excellence in ‘Government Process Re-engineering For Digital Transformation’.

Some of the other award recipients include Digital Land, Khanij Online, Umang, Maharera and Chemicals4construction.
