One of the most prestigious institutes of our country IISc – Bangalore witnessed a historic moment. The installation of Param Pravega. Param Pravega is India’s most powerful supercomputer. The supercomputer will be utilised for research and academic purposes.

A supercomputer is an extremely powerful set of computer capable of performing complex calculations in parallel and with great speeds.

Supercomputers are typically used for conducting research and development activities. In addition weather modelling, forecasting and study of environmental issues are done using supercomputers. Moreover, they are also used to study and analyse viruses such as COVID-19.
Most powerful supercomputer in India
Param Pravega is the largest supercomputer in an Indian academic institution. What’s really cool is that majority of the components have been manufactured and assembled within the country. Also, a lot of the software that makes the hardware work is developed in India. This proud achievement makes it eligible for a “Make in India” initiative.
