SBI’s Anshula Kant becomes the new MD & CFO of the World Bank

SBI’s Anshula Kant becomes the new MD & CFO of the World BankWorld Bank recently announced the appointment of India’s Anshula Kant as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the World Bank Group.

At World Bank, she will be responsible for financial and risk management of the World Bank Group.
 	She will be reporting to President David Malpass.
 	She is currently the Managing Director and CFO of India’s largest public sector bank, The State Bank of India.
 	She is in charge of stressed assets, risk, and compliance. As CFO of SBI, Kant has managed $38 billion of revenues and total assets of $500 billion.
 	Her expertise lies in retail banking, corporate credit, cross-border trade, and banking in developed markets – both retail and wholesale.

This is a big achievement for India and our women leaders. Women of India are being appointed at significant positions with international organisations.

Earlier this year, we read about Gita Gopinath of Indian origin becoming the first female Chief Economist of IMF and UN appointing Indian-origin Anita Bhatia as UN Deputy Executive Director.
