French nun becomes world’s oldest person
French nun, Sister Andre is 118 years old. She was given the title of the World’s oldest person by Guinness World Record (GWR), following the death of Japan’s Kane Tanaka.
World’s oldest person
Lucile Randon is known as Sister Andre. She was born in Southern France on 11th February 1904, before World War 1. She lives a happy life at a nursing home in Toulon along the Mediterranean coast.
Sister Andre begins her day with breakfast and morning mass, which is a television show. Though, the lady cannot see.
At the age of 118 years, she is enthusiastic and has a goal to live. She wants to break the record of Jeanne Calment, who was 122 years old when she died in 1997.
Sister Andre also got a handwritten New Year’s greeting from President Emmanuel Macron this year, along with letters and boxes of chocolates.
Sister Andre’s life
Lucile Randon has worked as a teacher and a governess, looking after children. She took the title of Sister Andre when she became a nun.
