SpaceX’s ‘Crew Dragon’ docks on ISS

SpaceX’s  ‘Crew Dragon’ docks on ISSSpaceX's new spacecraft Crew Dragon successfully docked on the International Space Station (ISS) on Sunday, March 3, 2019. The extremely smooth docking is being hailed as remarkable.

The craft carried Ripley, a dummy, as part of this demo flight.

This is a crucial part of three key tests it must pass before it can carry real people as passengers. The first was the spacecraft's successful launch on 02 March 2019, the second is this docking. The last part is it's safe return to Earth.

The space station's three crew members,  American Anne McClain, Canadian David Saint-Jacques and Russian Oleg Kononenko, entered the craft after it docked.
 	There they found Ripley, the dummy astronaut, strapped to its seat.
 	"Welcome to the new era in spaceflight," McClain announced from inside the Dragon.
 	SpaceX has made multiple trips to the ISS since 2012, but only to carry cargo. Transporting people is a more complex task.
 	Crew Dragon's successful test flight will enable human passengers into space. With this successful test flight, US astronauts could be SpaceX occupants very soon.
 	Crew Dragon will try to leave the space station and return to Earth on Friday, March 8, 2019. The return mission is called Demo-1.
 	SpaceX founder Elon Musk also started Tesla Motors, which is working towards making fully-electric vehicles.
