Team India wins at the World Schools Debating Championships 2019

Team India wins at the World Schools Debating Championships 2019Team India from the Indian Schools Debating Society (ISDS) has won World Schools Debating Championships (WSDC) for the first time.

WSDC 2019 was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 24th to 31st July.

The team included 5 Indian debators:

Saranya Ravindran
 	Manya Gupta
 	Bhavya Shah
 	Tejas Subramaniam
 	Prithvi Arun

Tejas Subramaniam was declared ‘Best speaker in the world’.
 	Bhavya Shah ended up as the sixth-best speaker in the world.
 	He also became the first visually impaired speaker to debate in a WSDC final and make it among the top 10 speakers.
 	Manya Gupta was ranked the 14th best speaker in the world.
 	The team defeated Canada in the final which they won 9-0.
 	The score 9-0 meant all 9 judges voted for India’s win, which has not been achieved by any country in the last 10 years!

The children were honoured for their achievement by ISDS and the Ramco Group (which is supporting ISDS) on 2nd August 2019 in Chennai.
