Teenage Indian girl receives Gates Foundation’s Changemaker award

Teenage Indian girl receives Gates Foundation’s Changemaker awardPayal Jangid received the Changemaker award on 24 September in the US.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gave this award.
 	They have given Payal this award for her fight for education and against child labour and child marriage in her village in Rajasthan.
 	In a  video, she explained details of the challenges faced by girls in Hinsla village, about 100 km from Jaipur.
 	Payal said that girls there are not allowed to go out and study and are married off early.

She herself fought against an early marriage that her family wanted for her.

Payal has since then been working to raise awareness on the problem of early marriage.
 	She not only discourages child marriages but also encourages parents to keep their children in school.
 	Payal does this by organising rallies, posters, going house to house and speaking to the families.
 	She was also elected as a leader of children's parliament which is a youth forum that raises issues to the village mayor.
