Watch a video: this Australian scientist can “talk” to frogsMichael Mahony is a 70-year old scientist in Australia who can "talk" to frogs.

Mahony has been studying frogs for a very long time. Till now, he has found and named 15 new types of frogs.

So, over the years, he has learned to perfectly copy and understand the shrills, croaks and whistles that frogs make. Mahony says that sometimes he even forgets to work because he is too busy having fun talking to them!

But he is also afraid that frogs are getting more silent and replying less. This is because, sadly, many of them are dying out all over the world.

For example, Australia has about 240 types of frogs. But many of them are becoming less in number. This is due to climate change, water pollution, and the loss of forests and ponds. Not only that, but a dangerous fungus is also causing frogs around the world (including Australia) to get sick.

So, Mahony is working hard to save them. He has even inspired some of his students to learn how to talk to frogs.
