Xiao Qi Ji is a cute panda cub who was born at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington D.C., US on 21 August 2020.

When giant pandas are born, they are very very tiny. Panda cubs stick close to their mothers’ bodies for the first few months of their lives. Only after that do they come out and play or eat.

The name ‘Xiao Qi Ji’ was officially announced in November 2020. It means “little miracle”.

Then, since the zoo is closed due to COVID-19. this cute panda cub was shown to the public on an online video in January 2021. Since then, he has become very popular online.
