What’s special about Alluri Sitarama Raju’s bronze statue?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 30 feet bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju on his 125th birth anniversary.
The statue is installed by the Kshatriya Seva Samiti in the Municipal Park at ASR Nagar in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. This is a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
Who is Alluri Sitarama Raju?
Alluri Sitarama Raju was popularly known as Manyam Veerdu (Hero of the forest). He was born on 4th July 1897 at Pandrangi village in the Visakhapatnam district.
The freedom struggle had a strong influence on Alluri Sitarama Raju. The socio-economic conditions in the country under British rule had moved him deeply. Also, during his pilgrimage journey, he met revolutionary personalities in Chittagong and then decided to build a movement against the Britishers.
Movements initiated by Sitarama Raju
Sitarama organised the local Adivasis in the forest areas into a force to launch an attack against the Britishers. Therefore, a movement called Rampa Rebellion or the Manyam Uprising in the Rampachodavaram forest area.
They used traditional weapons like bows, arrows and spears to attack the British forces. Later, Sitarama realised that he cannot win against the British forces with traditional weapons, therefore, he planned to snatch their own weapons and became the enemy of the British rulers.
The government has approved the construction of Alluri Dhyana Mandir at Mogallu with the statue of Sitarama Raju in Dhyana Mudra. The mandir will also depict the life story of the freedom fighter through paintings and AI-enabled interactive systems.
