Who is India’s most generous person?

Shiv Nadar has won the title of “India’s Most Generous” for the second time. The founder of HCL Technologies donates an average of more than one thousand one hundred crore rupees in 2022.
Wipro’s Azim Premji has dropped to second place, even though he gives more than 400 crores every year. Mukesh Ambani is in third place with a donation of nearly one thousand crores.
What is Philanthropy?
Philanthropy is the act of helping others who are less fortunate or in need. This is done through the donation of financial or other resources.
In 2022, the ten most generous Indian donors gave a total of more than 3,000 crores. The study of conducted yearly by the organisation “EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy”.
According to the EdelGive Hurun report, the amount of money given to charitable organisations has gone down in FY22. This is mainly because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

- Premji is the only living Indian to be recognised as one of the Edelgive Hurun Philanthropists of the Century for his financial philanthropy.
- Gautam Adani, an Indian business tycoon, moved up the list to take the seventh spot.
- Gautam Adani has given away more than Rs. 400 crore in the last three years.
- Mukesh Ambani, who is the chairman of Reliance, came in third place again. Over the course of three years, he gave away nearly 4,000 crores.
- The Nadar family has given nearly one thousand crores to charities and causes that are important to them.
- Edelgive Hurun has found that there are 15 people in India who have given more than Rs 100 crore in donations each year.
- There are 20 people who have given more than 50 crore rupees and 43 people who have given more than 20 crore rupees.
- There were six different women who were able to get on the list.
- Rohini Nilekani of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies is the most generous woman in India. She has given away a total of Rs 120 crore.
- Leena Gandhi Tewari, who works for a pharmaceutical company, gave a total of Rs 21 crore and came in second place.
- Anu Aga and his family from Thermax gave twenty million rupees in the fiscal year 22 to move up to the third place.
