Delhi Public School (DPS), Sonepat is currently hosting the 4th Youth and Junior National Boxing Championships from 17 – 31 July 2021. The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) is organising the championships.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the championships had been on hold. However, now, they are proceeding with full COVID-19 precautions at DPS Sonepat.

Around 500 participants from 34 states/UTs including Ladakh are part of the championships. The BFI will also consider this event as a selection tournament to select boxers to represent India in the upcoming ASBC Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. The ASBC (Asian Boxing Confederation) Youth & Junior Boxing Championships are scheduled to be held in Dubai from 17-31 August 2021.

DPS Sonepat in Haryana is well known for its strong focus on a well-rounded academic curriculum for students, aided by experienced teaching staff and state-of-art classrooms. Moreover, the school also promotes a healthy sporting ethos among its students and encourages active participation in sports. Its vast residential campus offers numerous facilities for different sports such as swimming, horse riding, golf, cricket, lawn tennis, table tennis, basketball, and football. It also recently hosted the Olympic camp for table tennis.

The school has explicit coaches pertaining every sport, physiotherapy centre, Sports Counsellors/ doctors, Sports Analysis team and other international sports facilitators.

Special sports academies

The school is renowned for its Khelo India TT (table tennis) Academy. This is a Khelo India table tennis training academy under the Sports Authority of India. It trains young and upcoming table tennis players of the country.

DPS Sonepat is also home to the Ashish Nehra Cricket Academy. This is a professional cricket training academy conceived and streamlined by Ashish Nehra. He is a former Indian ace cricketer who has represented India at the national level, including the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. The academy is equipped with the best facilities and coaches as well.

In addition to this, DPS Sonepat has sports facilities for Lawn Tennis, Football, Basketball, Golf, Swimming and Horse Riding. In the past, many national and international events are hosted in their facilities.
