Cartwheel Galaxy gets clicked by the James Webb Space Telescope. The cartwheel galaxy is an incredible display of fireworks lighting up the darkness of space. It looks absolutely breathtaking in our Solar System.

The Cartwheel Galaxy is very dusty, which makes it hard to see at some wavelengths, especially visible light. The Webb telescope can see through a lot of that dust and has a very high resolution. This lets it see things about the Cartwheel Galaxy that have never been seen before.

Fun facts about Cartwheel Galaxy!

• A distance of around 500 million light-years separates us from the Cartwheel Galaxy.
• The galaxy has several different structures that are all separate from each other.
• The appearance of these structures gives the galaxy its name.
• The Cartwheel galaxy is a clear, bright ring on the outside. In the middle, it has a darker, less bright area and a bright “centre”.
• The galaxy is a mix between a soft, flat spiral galaxy and a structured curving galaxy.
• Previous research has shown that this strange and very complicated structure is probably caused by a violent collision with a smaller galaxy.
• This interaction was probably a high-speed collision that sent ripples of galaxy material out from where they met.
• Experts will examine the pictures taken by the James Webb Telescope to investigate further information.
