‘Worm Moon’ wriggles into the sky on 7-Mar!

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

Today, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, you will be able to look up at the sky and see the Worm Moon. It is a full moon that appears in the month of March or around the equinox.

What is equinox?

When the sun is above the equator and day and night are the same lengths, is called the equinox.

It is known as the Worm Moon because its appearance coincides with the time of year when the ground starts to thaw. As a result, the earthworms start to come out of hibernation. The occurrence of both events is a sign that spring is on its way.

The entire disc of the moon appears brilliant and round when the moon’s dayside is fully confronting Earth as seen from space.
