Big changes at Port Blair!

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

Hello, bright-eyed adventurer! Guess what? Our very own Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is going to unveil a super-duper cool new terminal at the Port Blair Airport! It’s going to be so amazing, and I’m here to tell you all about it in a funny and easy way!

Port Blair’s Spectacular Terminal!

  • The new terminal building at Port Blair Airport is really fancy and cost a whopping Rs 710 crore! That’s a lot of money, right? It’s all about making the airport better and improving how people can travel to the beautiful Andaman and Nicobar islands.
  • This new building is so big and spacious, covering an area of around 40,800 square meters. That’s like having a whole bunch of football fields put together! Can you imagine that? It can handle about 50 lakh passengers every year. That’s a whole lot of people!
  • Now, let’s try to understand why this new terminal is so important. You see, Port Blair is a super popular place for tourists. People from all over the world want to visit those beautiful islands. So, the government wants to make it easier for them to come by making the airport awesome!
  • With this new terminal, they can park up to 10 airplanes at the same time. That’s like having a parking lot for airplanes! They even built a special apron that can fit two Boeing-767-400 planes and two Airbus-321 planes. Those are some big planes, I tell you!
  • And guess what? The design of the airport is inspired by the sea and islands. It looks like a big shell! How cool is that? They also made it eco-friendly with things like a double-insulated roof to keep it cool, skylights to let in natural sunlight, and LED lights that don’t make it too hot.
  • Conclusion: So, my little friend, this new terminal at Port Blair Airport is going to be a game-changer! It will make it easier for people to visit the Andaman and Nicobar islands, which means more fun and adventure for everyone. And not just that, it will also help the local community by creating new jobs and boosting the economy.
  • Plus, they’re taking care of the environment too! They’re collecting rainwater, treating wastewater, and even using solar power. It’s like they’re giving the islands a big hug and saying, “We love you and want to keep you safe!”
  • So, get ready to be amazed when you see this new terminal building. It’s going to be a treat for your eyes, and who knows, maybe you’ll even get to fly there someday! Remember, the sky’s the limit, my little buddy!
