ISRO Young Scientist Programme

ISRO’s Young Scientist Programme YUVIKA was launched on the 10th of March 2022. The Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO)‘s special programme is meant for school children. The programme is called the Young Scientist Program or Yuva Vigyani Karyakram(YUVIKA)

Purpose of ISRO Young Scientist Programme

The Young Scientist Program is used to educate the students about space science, space technology and applications. This programme is really useful, especially to the students who come from rural areas. The YUVIKA programme aims to create awareness about the new trends in science and technology.

ISRO said that the young scientists’ programme plans to select 150 students studying in the 9th class across the country. The programme also expects to encourage the students to take science, technology, engineering and maths-based careers.

About ISRO Young Scientist programme (YUVIKA)

The YUVIKA programme will be held for two weeks. It will start on 16th May and will continue to 28th May 2022. The registration for the programme has already begun on 10th March and it will close on 10th April 2022.

Selection of participants for YUVIKA programme

ISRO has issued the following parameters for selecting the students for Young Scientist Programme.

  • Marks in 8th class examination
  • Participation in Science fair organized by schools in last 3 years
  • Participation in Sports
  • Scout member in school

The schedule of the programme will include scientists sharing their experiences, lab visits and discussion sessions with experts. Five ISRO centres will conduct the YUVIKA programme.

Steps for registration in YUVIKA programme

The students should follow the given steps to register for the YUVIKA(Young Scientist) programme:

  • Register your Email for YUVIKA-2022.
  • Appear in the online quiz within 48 hours of email registration.
  • Login to YUVIKA portal after appearing in the quiz and fill your information correctly.
  • Upload the required documents on the portal.
