Fictional Character for Our Times: Pippa Fitz-Amobi
In a world where the truth often gets buried under layers of deception, the witty Pippa Fitz-Amobi or Pip as she is popularly known as from Holly Jackson’s “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder”, emerges as my favourite fictional character. She is a beacon for determination and justice, always fighting for what’s right.
Born in the fictional town of ‘Little Kilton’, her journey begins as a teenage girl with a school project that leads her to investigate the closed case of a local girl, Andie Bell who was “murdered” by her boyfriend, the late Sal Singh. As she delves deeper into the mystery, along with Ravi Singh, Sal’s brother, she unravels a web of secrets that someone in the town wants to keep hidden.
Well, until she does not solve the case, the real killer is still out there and who knows the lengths they will go to stop Pip from uncovering the truth. Her determination to get justice for Sal and find her real killer demonstrates her courage and resilience.
I admire Pip’s fearlessness and dedication for uncovering the truth. Her investigative skills and logical thinking inspire me and everyone else to approach problems with a critical and headstrong mindset. Recently, a Netflix series came out for this close to heart book and it demonstrated Pip’s character flawlessly. Though, to be honest, we all need justice for Sal and Ravi’s characters in the Netflix series.
Still today, Pippa Fitz-Amobi remains as an inspiring fictional character, who embodies intelligence and determination and inspires everyone around her to do the same. Anyways, you should know this, I can never talk about a murder mystery without spoiling the book for future readers.
All those of you who haven’t read the book yet and don’t want to know more, stop reading instantly because, Spoiler Alert: Sal was innocent all along and someone else very close to Pip did it.
