Innovative Young Citizens Challenge – Senior (Grade 9-12)

The Innovative Young Citizens Challenge has now opened for the Senior Group (Grade 9 to 12). You can submit your entries by 9 August 2021, 12 Noon IST.

If you are participating in the Innovative Young Citizens Challenge, chances are that you are already an Innovative Young Citizen. Now, here we are trying to scratch your brains and get some answers to these problem statements. You can present innovative ideas in the form of art, articles, models, projects, reports, illustrations or any kind of expression. You can also use materials available at home to make 2D, 3D models, comic strips, stories, quotes and references, memes, videos using canva, PowerPoint, chart papers, colours.

OPTION I – Solve The Problem Statements Given By Curious Times

Students of Grades 9 to 12 can pick any ONE topic from the problem statements listed below.

Topics for Senior Group (Grade 9-12)

  1. 1. You are making an online platform/ app for teens. What features will you add to it?
  2. 2. You are the Minister of Education. What changes would you make in the current education system?
  3. 3. As a leader, what three changes would you make in your country’s constitution?
  4. 4. Look back at history and discuss on one event you want to change.
  5. 5. What does it mean to be happy?

OPTION II – My Curiosity, My Concern, My Creation!

Students can submit their own solutions for the problems, which they are really concerned about.

Some of you would have already worked on some problems, current or future. You have thought through something you want to create for the problems you care about. But what you need is a bigger platform and audience to share what you have created. So, here is your chance to share that. Make sure what you send is original with attention to the details of all aspects of the problem and the solution.  

Rules for your profile completion: My Account Section

All the participants have a good chance of moving to the next level. All the students will receive certificates of participation, even if they do not reach the next level or their work is not selected for publishing on the website or the publications. Here are some rules to follow from your profile perspective:

  1. 1. Make sure that spellings of your name and school, and your grade are correct before making the submission. Once the entry is submitted, spellings and corrections are not allowed. Certificates will be made basis this data. 
  2. 2. In case you would want to share your picture along with your entry, you can upload your picture in “My Account” tab. It will be displayed at the discretion of the editor and following the image guidelines. Please ensure you submit a smart yet sober and clear picture. The picture submitted before the submision of the entry will be considered. Any change in picture after submission of the entry will not reflect on the website. 
  3. 3. Submitting of the picture is as per parents’ discretion and will be considered as their approval to publsh. Students’ pictures are not mandatory from Curious Times’ persective.

Rules of Innovative Young Citizens Challenge Entries

  1. 1. Make sure you select the right theme while submitting your ‘Solution’.
  2. 2. You can submit your ‘Solution’ in text, image and/ or video formats. It is not compulsory to do all of them.
  3. 3. Do NOT forget to add Title and a brief while submitting.
  4. 4. Use the text box. Do not upload handwritten notebook pages. This is to avoid any readability issues.
  5. 5. The word limit for write-ups is 400 words.
  6. 6. If you want to show a video, please share it as a YouTube link. The YouTube video should be in public or unlisted mode and not in private mode. The duration of the video should not exceed 90 seconds.
  7. 7. In case of 2D/ 3D models, presentation, images, submit JPG format only. Ensure that images are clear and not blurred. Make sure you crop the images to the right size and no additional background is there. Do not submit screen shots, they will be declined.
  8. 8. In case you are uplaoding images of the Solution, avoid child’s picture is in that image. Child’s picture can be uploaded separately through My Account.
  9. 9. In case any student submits more than one entry, all the entries will be disqualified. So kindly check your entry throughly before submisison.
  10. 10. Students, who are participating via schools should ensure that they register with their school code and their school details are correct. Your school logo will be visible only if you have participated through your school code.
  11. 11. Top 10 students with the maximum number of Curious Claps on the website will be awarded. So once your submission is selected for publishing, make sure you share with your friends and families to win Curious Claps.
  12. 12. Jury will give emphasis to understanding of the problem statement by the student, innovation and creativity in solution, clear communication of student’s idea through content and presentation.
