This award-winning movie, ‘My Giraffe’ is about a young boy named Patterson and a giraffe named Raf who happen to be the best of friends. Both of them were born on exactly the same day.

However, on Patterson’s first day of school, Raf cannot be with him because everyone knows that animals can’t go to school and they already know what they need to know.

In the beginning, both could not acclimatize themselves with the situations they were in; Patterson in school and Raf in the zoo. They longed to meet each other. In time, Patterson started making new friends in school and got involved with them, and that was the time when Raf started feeling all the more lonely. Patterson soon realized his mistake, and so tried his best to see him and make him happy.

How Patterson is able to find a way to be together again with Raf is something one has to see a movie to find out!

Dikkertje Dap ( original title), directed by Barbara Bredero, initially released in Germany on 1st March 2018 is the first Dutch movie I have ever watched in my life. The scenes are very picturesque, there are expansive green farms, a zoo having a variety of animals and plants and a beautiful and serene suburban neighbourhood. It is calming and relaxing; there are no fights or arguments… characters seem to be living an amiable life, something that I was awestruck with from the very start of the movie. This movie teaches important lessons. One of the pertinent things to take away from the movie is not to lose faith in friendship. One can be friends with multiple people and still be true to all of them. It also suggests that humans and animals can co-exist easily with each other. Besides these, I think, it reinforces our beliefs in family structures and their culture.

Overall, an amazing movie and I loved it to the hilt!
