A family reunites with their dog, after being separated due to COVID-19

A family reunites with their dog, after being separated due to COVID-19The Eilbecks are an Australian family, who were on a journey, sailing around the world in their boat. They travelled to over 17 countries and even adopted a dachshund dog named Pipsqueak in Sicily.

Unfortunately, when they were in Florida, US, in March, the COVID-19 pandemic happened. They had to quickly fly back home before the border closed.

However, Pipsqueak couldn't. Australia has very strict rules on bringing animals and plants from outside. Sadly, the family didn't have time to prepare Pipsqueak for all that and couldn't take him on the flight.

So, the family left him temporarily for a short while with a friend. They didn't think that they would be apart for so long.

However, as it turns out, it took about 5 months for Pip to finally reach Australia. He flew over 16,000 km, from Florida to Los Angeles to New Zealand and finally to Australia.

Along the way, his temporary caretakers kept changing and flights also kept getting cancelled. But now he is with the Eilbecks. The family said they are so thankful to all the strangers who helped to bring Pip home.
