Aesop’s Fables – The goose that laid golden eggsOnce upon a time, in a village far away, lived a man who had a magical goose*.

One day, to his surprise, he found that his goose laid a special egg.

This egg was very different from the eggs laid by other geese*.

It was a golden egg!

He could not believe his eyes. He could not believe his luck.

Everyday, the magical goose laid a golden egg!

The man took the egg to the town and sold it.

He got a lot of money by selling the golden eggs. He became happy.

One day, he thought to himself, “I only get one golden egg everyday. I think I should get all the eggs now. Why should I wait ?"

So, he decided to kill the goose and take all the eggs in one go.

He was very excited as he thought of all the money he would make.

So the man killed the goose.

But what did he find?

It did not have a single golden egg inside it.

The goose died. And from that day, the man did not get even the one golden egg he used to get everyday.

It was his greed that made him take this foolish step. What do you think?
