Let us understand the meaning and difference between these terms.

Particulate Matter (PM), also called particle pollution, is a mixture of solid particles and liquid droplets present in the atmosphere.
 	These particles come in many different size range, composition and origin.
 	PM2.5 and PM10 are small particles which are very harmful to health.

PM 2.5
PM 10

Its diameter is less than 2.5 micrometres.
Its diameter is of 10 micrometres.

The normal level of PM2.5 level should be 60 microgram cubic meter.
The normal level of PM10 should be 100 micrograms cubic meter.

They are formed from automobile emissions, dust and cooking smoke, forest fires, wood-burning stoves, agricultural burning, and industrial smoke.
 	The particles present in the air are very small and not visible through naked eyes.
 	Some particles can only be detected by using an electron microscope.
 	The small particles during breathing go into the lungs and can lead to cough and asthma attacks.
 	Apart from this, serious diseases like high blood pressure, heart attack, and stroke may occur after inhaling it.

Safety measures like wearing masks, planting plants, avoid burning activities should be taken.
