Shambu is a shikari (hunter) who gets called in to capture dangerous wild animals. However, he is not brave at all; in fact, he is quite cowardly (only tries to save himself).

He always tries to run away whenever someone comes to ask for his help.

Somehow, due to his luck, he captures the animal. So, everyone thinks he is a great hunter when he is actually not!

Fun facts about Shikari Shambu!

• Shikari Shambu was created by Vasant Halbe and Luis Fernandes for Tinkle comics in 1983.
• At the start, the creators were worried about introducing a “hunter” character.
• So, they kept him but ensured that he never shot or killed any animal in any of the stories.
• His face is instantly recognisable by his curved moustache and his hat which covers his eyes. His eyes are never seen.
• Shambu wears green-coloured shorts and a shirt.
• He has a wife named Shanti who shouts at him a lot for being so lazy.
