Amazon’s robotaxi passes road tests!

Zoox, Amazon’s self-driving taxi service, has been conducting tests with workers as passengers. The autonomous car division of Amazon.com is known as Zoox.
It announced that it has successfully tested a robotaxi on a public road with staff riding as passengers.
What is Zoox?
Zoox is the name of the part of Amazon.com that deals with self-driving cars.
This was done in an effort to push the company closer to commercial service for the general public. The test took place on 11 February between two Zoox buildings.
These buildings are one mile apart at the company’s headquarters in the United States. It was part of the launch of a free employee shuttle service that will also help the company refine its technology.

- “Putting the vehicle on (an) open public road and validating our approach to all of the different requirements, including regulatory, is a big step”, claims the makers.
- According to industry experts, self-driving technology has proven to be difficult to master.
- Thus the autonomous vehicle section of the business has not been rolled out as quickly as was once anticipated.
- Among the businesses that are still working to perfect this technology are General Motors Company’s Cruise unit and Waymo, which is owned by Alphabet Inc.
- There is no steering wheel or pedals in Zoox’s robotaxi.
- Zoox’s robotaxi is also designed from the ground up as a fully autonomous vehicle.
- As opposed to retrofitting already-existing vehicles with self-driving technology.
- There’s seating for four in this robotaxi, two of whom can sit facing each other.
