Asterix co-creator Albert Uderzo passes away

Asterix co-creator Albert Uderzo passes awayAlbert Uderzo, the co-creator and illustrator (artist) of the famous French comic Asterix has passed away at the age of 92.

He died in his home in Neuilly, France of a heart attack on 24 March.

Who was Albert Uderzo?

Uderzo was born in France in April 1927.
 	He, along with René Goscinny created Asterix in 1959. Asterix is about the adventures of Asterix and Obelix who are warriors in a village in Gaul (France) fighting against the Roman Empire.
 	Uderzo kept on writing and illustrating the comics even after Goscinny died in 1977.

He retired in 2011. Since then, the comics have been written by Jean-Yves Ferri and drawn by Didier Conrad.

Popular Asterix comics have sold over 370 copies worldwide.

It has been translated into 110 languages.
 	There have been also many movies and cartoon series on Asterix.
 	A while ago, we also read about the first female heroine, Adrenaline, in Asterix. She is featured in Asterix and the Chieftain’s Daughter.

Many people on social media expressed sadness at his passing.
