Australia’s women footballers get equal pay in landmark dealThe Australian women's football team have struck a crucial deal that will affect them as well as hopefully, women's football. They will now receive the same pay as their male counterparts.

A four-year deal, called the Collective Bargaining Agreement, was struck between soccer governing body Football Federation Australia (FFA) and the players' union, Professional Footballers Australia (PFA).
 	The women's team, Westfield Matildas and the men's team Caltex Socceroos will also share an equal split of all commercial revenues. Previously, the Socceroos earned a greater share of revenues generated by the team.
 	The Matildas will also be allowed to travel business class for international travel, as the men do.
 	The women's team will be provided with the same level of coaching and operational support as the men's team.
 	FFA's parental leave policy will also be reviewed, to ensure women playing for the national team are supported during pregnancy and on their return.

The gender discrimination and inequality in sports has been in the spotlight in recent years with many cases of international sportswomen taking a stand.

In 2015, the Australian women's team cancelled a fully sold-out tour of the US amid a dispute with the FFA over their abysmally low pay.

This new agreement is a huge step toward ensuring that values of equality, inclusivity and opportunity are upheld and lived among the sporting world
