Babirusa, wild deer-pigs, show excitement when meeting peopleA while ago, we read about the chevrotain or the deer-mouse. Today, let's read about a very unique-looking pig called babirusa or the deer-pig!

What is the babirusa?

Babirusas are wild animals that belong to the pig family.
 	What makes them so unique is their scary-looking tusks or teeth that grow out of their mouths towards their foreheads! But the tusks are not dangerous as they break easily.

Where can you find babirusas?

There are four types of babirusas and they live in the Sulawesi, Togian, Sula, and Buru islands in Indonesia.
 	They eat everything including leaves, fruits, insects, fish, and small animals.
 	They also have surprisingly thin legs but round and long bodies (similar to deers).

Babirusas can also stand on their back legs quite well. In fact, while fighting, they stand and "box" with each other using their front legs!
