Bangladesh forbids fishing for 65 days in a yearBangladesh, the country with major coastal (land near to sea) region in the Bay of Bengal has banned (stopped) fishing for 65 days. The reason behind this is to protect and increase species (family) of fishes.

The ban is from 20th May to 23rd June and this will be applied every year for the same period of time.

Different species of fishes are entering the sea now and this ban on fishing will help them in breeding (reproduction) without any disturbance.
 	The fish have decreased significantly in the Bay of Bengal in recent years. So proper care is required.
 	Fishing is not only the reason behind the decrease in the number of fish, but pollution is also responsible.

Response to ban

Fishermen have planned protests against the ban as they do not have any other source of income.
 	Fishing associations have requested the prime minister to reconsider the ban.

Fishing includes many commercial species like shrimps, crabs, shells, prawns along with fishes.
