Bengalureans create eco-friendly Ganesha idols to set a new World RecordWe just celebrated Ganesha Chaturthi yesterday.

As lovely as the festival is, the Ganesha idol immersion at the end can cause water pollution.

So, this year, people in Bengaluru decided to do something to fight the water pollution that the festival can cause.

2,138 people in Bengaluru gathered together to make eco-friendly Ganesha idols.
 	With this, they have set a Guinness world record under the category 'Most people sculpting with modelling clay'.
 	The previous record in this category was with 589 people.

Shree Vidyaranya Yuvaka Sangha in collaboration with the Bengaluru Ganesha Utsav team organised the event.

They organised the event on 25th August at the National College grounds, Bengaluru.
 	It was called 'Making of the clay seed Ganesha' and anybody could participate, free of cost.
 	They made the idols using biodegradable, eco-friendly raw materials with seeds inside them.
 	When these Ganesha idols are immersed, the seeds will germinate and plants will grow out of them.
