Billionaire Chuck Feeney achieves goal of giving away all his wealth

Chuck Feeney is an Irish-American billionaire. His lifetime aim was to give away his US$8 billion fortune for good causes. Last week Feeney, who is now 89 years old, achieved his goal.
Who is Chuck Feeney?
Chuck Feeney became rich after he co-founded the company, Duty-Free Shoppers Group in 1960. This is a company that sells luxury products at many airports and hotels all over the world.
In 1982, Feeney started giving away his money through a secret organisation, called the Atlantic Philanthropies. But his identity was revealed in 1997. Over the years, Feeney has given a large part of his fortune to universities, human rights groups, science and more.
Currently, Chuck Feeney lives in a small rented apartment in San Franciso, US. He lives a simple life. He does not own a car or a house.
After giving away his wealth, he feels happy said that he could finish his goals before he died. He hopes that more billionaires will follow in his example.
Feeney’s actions have inspired other billionaires like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett to start the Giving Pledge. Under this project, the world’s richest people commit to giving away at least half their wealth to charity.
