Blue Origin’s first human spaceflight takes off

Blue Origin’s first human spaceflight takes offOn 20 July, Blue Origin's first human spaceflight, New Shephard, took off. Blue Origin is a spaceflight company founded by Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.

The four-member flight also had Bezos' younger brother, the world's oldest person in space as well as the youngest.

The flight launched from Texas, US and reached an altitude of 107 kilometres, above the Karman Line. This line marks the recognized boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and space.

They spent about 10 minutes in space. After they landed, the crew hugged family who came to meet them at the landing site. This is Blue Origin's first spaceflight taking tourists to space. It plans two more flights this year.

Bezos founded Blue Origin in 2000. Currently, the company is developing a rocket called New Glenn and also a Moon lander.
