Cabinet approves Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Phase-II

Hello there! Have you heard of the Swachh Bharat Mission? It's a special mission that was started in India in the year 2014 by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The mission is all about keeping our country clean and making sure everyone has access to toilets.
Swachh Bharat Mission: Clean India

Since the Swachh Bharat Mission began, lots of progress has been made. More than 10 crore toilets have been built in rural areas. Isn't that amazing? Also, over 5.9 lakh villages in 699 districts of 35 states/UTs have declared themselves open defecation free. That means people are using toilets instead of going outside to do their business.
When something is declared open defecation free, it means people are using toilets and not going outside to do their business. This is a good thing because it keeps the environment clean and helps prevent diseases. It also shows that people are taking care of themselves and their communities.
Because of the great work done in the first phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the government is now getting ready for the second phase. This new phase will happen from 2020-2021 to 2024-2025. The government has set aside a big budget of ₹1,40,881 crore for this mission.
The second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission will focus on a few important things. One is to keep up the progress made in the first phase by making sure people continue to have access to toilets and use them properly. Another important focus is on managing solid and liquid waste. This means taking care of things like plastic waste, biodegradable waste (like animal waste), greywater, and faecal sludge.
The Swachh Bharat Mission will also create jobs for people in villages. They will help build toilets for households and communities. They will also work on things like compost pits and soak pits, which are important for managing waste.
So, my dear friend, the Swachh Bharat Mission is a wonderful mission that is making India a cleaner and healthier place to live. It's important for all of us to support this mission and do our part in keeping our surroundings clean. Together, we can make a big difference!
