Chameleons are the colourful beings of the lizard family.

There are many species(types) of chameleons - more than 150!

Where do they live?

Half of all species of chameleons live in Madagascar, East Africa.
 	They are mainly found in Africa, South Europe, South Asia and Sri Lanka where the weather is warm.

Why are they different?

Some chameleon species can change their skin color - pink, blue, red, orange, green, black, brown, yellow and purple!
 	The eyes of a chameleon can move all around and even look in different directions.
 	They usually have big tongues that can shoot out like an arrow to catch bugs.

What do they eat?

Chameleons usually eat large insects such as grasshoppers, crickets, and stick insects.
 	The bigger ones also eat other lizards and baby birds.
 	They don’t need a lot of water and usually drink water droplets from leaves, stones and other objects.

Sadly some of the species of chameleons are endangered (in danger). This has happened because of loss of their natural homes - forests.

Forests are a home to many kinds of plants and animals. We must protect them to protect wildlife - before only their pictures remain!
