Chennai students create biometric voting machineElections in India are very important. We read about them before.

In India, we vote using Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) which are located in polling booths. To vote, we need to go to a booth with our ID or identity cards, such as Voting ID Card, Aadhar Card.

Recently, the team of 5 students of PCKG Government Higher Secondary School in Chennai have created a biometric voting machine.

This biometric voting machine identifies the voter by scanning his or her fingerprints and retina (eyes).
 	There is no need to carry an ID because the machine can find the voter’s Aadhar Card using the fingerprint and retina scans.
 	Even if the voter is in another constituency or city for work or holiday, he or she can still vote. Right now this does not happen and so, fewer people are able to vote.
 	Pradeep Kumar (Class 10), MV Jebin, N. Sudarshan, Sushil Raj Singh and A. Vishal (Class 12) created the biometric voting machine.
 	Their project was selected from 200 student projects.

They along with seven other projects made by children will present their innovation to the President of India on Children’s Day.
