Who are tree kangaroos or 'roos'?

Tree kangaroos are smaller relatives of Australian kangaroos.
 	They look somewhat similar to koala bears but have long tails and move in trees like monkeys.
 	There are around 14 species of tree kangaroos. They are found in New Guinea and Queensland (in Australia). However, they are considered to be endangered and are rarely seen.

Recently, a tree kangaroo called Chimbu was born in Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria, Australia. His birth gives us a rare chance to watch one of these unique creatures grow up.

Chimbu is an adorable brown coloured roo with blue eyes.
 	He belongs to a family of tree kangaroos called the Goodfellow’s tree kangaroos. They have stripes on their tails.
 	Chimbu is also the result of an international conservation effort to save his species. The project aims to increase the tree kangaroo population with the help of tree kangaroos from different zoos all over the world.

There are many efforts underway to save tree kangaroos. Chimbu is one step towards assuring that his wild cousins will remain safe.
