The Presidents of Australia, the US, and the UK will announce a nuclear submarine collaboration. The leaders of these countries will discuss how they can work together to keep their countries safe. 

What is AUKUS?

AUKUS or “Aukus,” is a security agreement between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States for the Indo-Pacific region. Under the agreement, the US and the UK will help Australia purchase submarines that run on nuclear power.

Likewise, create a new plan to give powerful submarines to Australia.

Key facts!

• First, the goal of the nuclear submarine partnership is to compete with China’s plans to be the strongest naval power in the Pacific.
• Secondly, the advanced submarines are expected to arrive as early as 2032.
  • The first of the advanced submarines will be made in the United States.
• Importantly, analysts believe that if this plan if the plan works, it will be the biggest and most important partnership to work together to stay safe.
• According to expert opinion, the most important thing about AUKUS is that the US will share its special technology for nuclear-powered submarines with Australia.
• In other words, this technology had previously been shared with Britain only.
  • This happened when the UK was making its underwater ships in the 1960s.
• Meanwhile, China is worried that the three countries will compete to make more powerful weapons.
  • In addition, Chinese officials stated that these countries are not helping to stop the spread of dangerous weapons.
  • Further, they should stop acting like they are in a big competition and start doing things to make the area peaceful and safe.
