Civil Engineers – Creating the modern world we live inThere are many different kinds of engineers in the world. So, what does a civil engineer do?

The job of a civil engineer is to create, improve and protect the environment in which we live.

Civil engineers plan, design and oversee construction of building structures and infrastructures. Such as roads, railways, airports, bridges, harbours, dams, irrigation projects, power plants, and water and sewerage systems.
 	They also focus on how things will be built and the structure of a building.

Civil engineers work closely with architects to make sure that the structure designed can endure normal and extreme conditions.
 	They evaluate and see if the architect’s vision can be turned into reality.
 	They are responsible for finding suitable building materials and suggesting changes to the design accordingly.

A civil engineer's responsibility is to ensure that the design can be implemented in a safe and reliable manner.

To become a civil engineer, one needs to be good at math and physics, in order to understand construction and building technology.

One can become a civil engineer by studying B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) degree in Civil Engineering. A B.Tech degree usually takes 4 years to complete.
