COVID-19: State govts shut down educational institutes, public spacesThe number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has risen to over 162,000 globally. India has confirmed around 119 cases while 10 people have also been discharged after getting better.

Face masks and hand sanitisers are now classified as 'essential commodities' in India (up to 30 June). This will help the govt to regulate the production, quality, distributions of masks and hand sanitisers. It will also prevent sudden changes in price and ensure availability.
 	The Maharashtra govt has postponed all school and college exams except for class 10 and 12. It has also restricted large gatherings at shrines and religious sites.
 	Delhi has banned public gatherings of over 50 people.
 	Tripura has also closed down all educational institutions while the Bihar govt has said that it will bear the expenses of the treatment of all coronavirus patients.
 	The fourth batch of Indian citizens have been evacuated from Iran. That brings the total to 389, up to now.

What is happening around the world?

A high spike of cases have been reported in Italy, making it the worst-hit country after China.
 	The World Health Organization (WHO) says that Europe is now the epicentre of the virus.
 	Global stock markets have fallen while experts warn about the dangerous impact the outbreak is having on airlines.
 	While cases in Asian countries like China have lessened, there are concerns about a 'second wave' of an outbreak due to infection from overseas.
 	Many countries such as Germany and Russia are closing their borders with neighbouring countries to contain the virus.
