COVID-19 update: Russia starts vaccinating animals

India reported 1.86 lakh new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest number India has seen in 44 days.

The government has said that while cases are going down, states should remain on alert.

The Apollo Group of Hospitals has announced that it will start giving the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine in India from the second week of June. It will cost about ₹ 1,195 per dose.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that as cases are decreasing, Delhi will start unlocking slowly from the coming Monday. Punjab has extended its lockdown up to 10 June. West Bengal has extended up to 15 June.

The suspension on international flights in India has been extended again, up to 30 June 2021. regular international passenger services have been suspended in India since 23 March 2020.

Germany will start vaccinating children over the age of 12 years from 7 June 2021.

Russia has started COVID-19 vaccinations for animals. In March, it had announced that it had approved the world’s first COVID-19 vaccine for animals. The vaccine is called Carnivak-Cov vaccine. Animals like dogs, cats, apes and mink have been known to get infected with COVID-19.

As Japan prepares to host the Summer Olympics this year, it is extending a coronavirus state of emergency to just a month before the Olympics start. This emergency applies to capital Tokyo and other areas.
