Crayola launches new crayons to reflect all children’s skin tonesThe world is made up of so many different people of different races and communities. Everyone has a different skin colour. However, most crayon packs do not have options to colour faces and body parts. Many times, while drawing or colouring, children may not know which crayons to draw themselves as they cannot find their exact skin coloured crayons.

Crayon maker Crayola has launched a new set of crayons called "Colors of the World”.

These crayons are of different colours, which show over 40 global skin tones (colours) across the world. They range from light skin tones to dark ones and all the different shades in between. Crayola wants children to use these crayons to be creative and draw themselves the way they see themselves.

Crayola released the crayon pack on 21 May and it will be available from July.

Why is this important?

These initiatives are important for everyone to feel included. For example, while watching a movie, you would be more excited if it also included someone who looks like you.
