Drones to kill mosquitoes in Hyderabad lakesA new idea by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to kill mosquitoes and larvae using drones seems to be working well.

Anti-larval chemicals to kill mosquitoes were sprayed in the lakes using drones.
 	This was tried in the last week of March this year and it showed good results.
 	This was also successfully tested in Gurunatham lake in Miyapur.
 	Mosquito larvae and adult mosquitoes have reduced quickly.
 	Last Friday, Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan officially inaugurated the program.
 	The second round of spraying was done in Gurunatham lake as part of this program

Now GHMC is getting ready to use more drones for spraying chemicals in the remaining lakes and drains in the city.

This technique reduces the number of hours that workers had to spend in the spraying process.
 	As per reports, it took 10 workers about 2 weeks to cover the 16-acre lake.
 	Another advantage of drones is that areas not reachable for manual spraying can also be easily covered.
