Durian – The smelliest fruit in the worldThe durian fruit is a popular fruit in Southeast Asia where it is nicknamed as the 'king of fruits'.

But it is also famous for being the smelliest fruit in the world!

The durian is a large fruit that looks similar to jackfruit.

It grows in tropical (warm, humid climate) regions, particularly in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
 	It can be eaten by itself and can also be used in cooked dishes.
 	It is also very nutritious (healthy)and contains a lot of fibres, minerals and vitamins.

What about the smell?

The durian's smell is very strong and has been described as a combination of sulfur, sewage, fruit, honey, and roasted and rotting onions!
 	A study of its smells revealed that it contains over 44 kinds of smells, which all combine to create a strong smell.
 	Due to the strong smell, the durian is banned on public transport systems in Japan, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong.
