Earth Day is here, and it feels like our planet is calling us to listen a little closer.
Why Do We Celebrate World Earth Day?
Earth Day – sometimes called International Mother Earth Day – is a chance to slow down and celebrate this amazing planet we live on. The day invites us to put on our work gloves and tackle problems like pollution and the changing climate with determination.
Over a billion people lending a hand proves that we mean business when we say Earth deserves our love and protection!
Earth Day's Roots
Back in the 1960s, the air crackled with worry –smoggy skies, rivers choked with waste... A brave writer, Rachel Carson, wrote a book called Silent Spring that opened everyone's eyes to how nature was suffering.
That's when a lawmaker named Gaylord Nelson and others decided that the Earth needed its own special day, a day designed to inspire change.
The Fight Against Plastics: World Earth Day 2024
Imagine the weight of hundreds of whales, but instead of majestic creatures, it's a mountain of plastic trash. That's roughly how much plastic we produce each year! This trash pollutes our oceans, hurting the beautiful creatures who live there, and even becomes part of the food we eat.
Earth Day 2024 puts the spotlight on this problem, fighting to end plastic pollution.
Picture a world with beaches glistening like jewels instead of being littered with plastic bits. Imagine sea turtles gliding through crystal-clear water, not dodging plastic bags. This Earth Day, we're determined to make that dream a reality!
How to Get Involved

Recycle, recycle, recycle: The satisfying clink of bottles in the recycling bin, the rustle of newspapers being sorted – it's the sound of doing something good!
